HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - An armed robbery at the Dollar Tree on Patterson Avenue prompted a several hour search overnight in Henrico.

The store was robbed about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The search prompted the lockdown of several neighborhoods as police continued to scour the area for hours after the robbery. At one point, police had helicopters flying over the area.

A voicemail from Henrico police shared by a viewer said police were looking for a short black man wearing black clothes and a black backpack. The message told residents to stay inside and turn their outside lights on to help with the search.

Police caught the suspect around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The man wasn't armed when police took him into custody, but could not say if a weapon had been recovered.

Charges are pending.
