RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Storms caused thousands of people to lose power overnight as storms moved through the region.

As of 6:40 a.m., more than 2,500 people are still without power.

Outages have also impacted traffic lights.

Some of the main government buildings in Chesterfield County still do not have power. Anyone who has business there is asked to call ahead before coming. The main line is 804-748-1000.

The Virginia State Police Headquarters also lost power and is operating on generators with low capacity. They are still open but are unable to provide fingerprinting services. Anyone who needs them can visit these locations:

  • Virginia State Police Area 6 Office at 1765 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, Virginia 23139.
  • Local police and sheriff's offices can also provide fingerprinting services.
