CULPEPER, VA (WWBT) - A man was arrested after shooting his own truck multiple times.
Michael Jones, 55, of Jeffersonton, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, brandishing a firearm and domestic assault.
Deputies with the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office were called to Deerfield Lane on Aug. 27 and discovered Jones with multiple firearms shooting each one into his own vehicle and making threats against law enforcement.
He was arrested and said the deputies were lucky he surrendered because otherwise there would have been a "big shootout," the sheriff's office said.
A double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun and .223 Kel-Tec PLR-16 rifle along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Jones was held without bond at the Culpeper County Jail.
