Rescue squad lieutenant charged with forcible sodomy

KING AND QUEEN, VA (WWBT) - A rescue squad lieutenant faces charges of forcible sodomy after alleged incidents with an underage girl.

Joshua Petree, 21, of Mechanicsville, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of sodomy by force out of King and Queen County.

Court documents state the incidents happened April 29 and May 1.

"Hanover County deputies arrested him and then transported him to us," King and Queen Chief Deputy William "Rob" Balderson said.

Petree is a member of the Mattaponi Volunteer Rescue Squad. Balderson said the alleged incidents did not occur while the crew was out on a call.

Documents state Petree committed "forcible sodomy by engaging in fellatio" with a female.

Investigators said the girl is a juvenile and she and Petree are acquaintances.

Further details about the incident were not released.

Petree's arrest comes one month after King William County Fire and EMS honored him at a Board of Supervisors meeting for helping save the life of an unconscious man in May.

As for Petree's status at the Rescue Squad, a member there had no comment about the situation. However, an official with King and Queen County Emergency Services said Petree is currently suspended. His suspension was in effect sometime before Petree's arrest last week for undisclosed reasons.

Petree is currently being held at the Middle Peninsula Security Center on no bond pending a hearing.
