Tributes pour in after sudden loss of Cumberland Teacher

Tributes from students and parents continue to pour in after the sudden loss of a local teacher.
Cumberland County school officials announced that High School Physical Education teacher and coach,Tyler Reese, passed away this week.
On facebook, Cumberland Schools posted, "
Although Mr. Reese had only been with CHS a short time, he brought a positive energy to the school."

Bluestone Baron Athletics posted,"It is with deep sadness we report of the loss of a member of the Baron family. A former athlete, coach, mentor, friend, and colleague; Tyler Reese passed away Tuesday, August 21. We offer our condolences to his family and friends during this most difficult time."

Coach Reese was 31 years old.

Reese was well known in Virginia as an avid softball player, having won 10 State and National Championships.

Students and parents from Cumberland as well as Bluestone High School have reached out to NBC12, to tell us how much Coach Reese meant to them.

Jeanie Goodson wrote on Cumberland's facebook page, "It broke my heart when my brother told me about his gym teacher passing away.?? Prayers for his family!"

Marie Lang Blevins wrote, "He definitely made an impact in that time. Prayers to his family, coworkers, and the students who are mourning this huge loss!"

A Visitation for Tyler Reese is Friday, from 6-8 p.m., at Wood Funeral Home in Chase City.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 25 at 11:00 AM, at First Baptist Church, 206 East 2nd Street, Chase City, VA 23924.
