STAFFORD, VA (WWBT) - A man wanted for a probation violation was arrested by the Stafford County Sheriff's Office following a domestic dispute.

Deputies were called to 242 Butler Road for the report of a woman chasing a man down the road on Monday.

When they arrived, they learned that William Diaz Jr., 29, of Fredericksburg, was wanted for a probation violation.

A witness told deputies that Diaz was a friend and he had given him a ride home when Diaz got into an argument with a woman in the car. Diaz then pulled over and got out of the vehicle. The woman also got out and attempted to convince him to come back.

Residents provided deputies with a description and K9 Steele attempted to locate him.

Deputies found out Diaz had been picked up and taken to the Super 8 Motel on Warrenton Road. A perimeter was set up at the motel, and deputies were able to arrest him without incident.

Diaz is being held at the Rappahannock Jail on outstanding warrants.
