Police: Man faces animal cruelty charge after shooting, killing dog

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The Henrico Police Department says a man who shot and killed a dog faces multiple charges.

Police say they were called to the 4900 block of Rail Drive for a firearm violation on July 14. When officers arrived, they spoke to a person who said two dogs were fighting.

When those dogs were separated, police said D'Andre Lavelle Kearney shot and killed one of them.

Kearney faces charges of reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, and animal cruelty in the incident.
