Facebook-famous Ginny: Will she go from pet cam star to calendar cover?
Ginny and her puppies were featured on NBC12's live petcam.

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Ginny the NBC12 petcam dog who viewers watched give birth on Facebook Live earlier this year is now in the running to be the cover dog for Richmond Animal League's calendar.

Ginny is currently in third place in money raised. The dog that raises the most money will earn the cover.

Ginny was found as a stray in February and fostered by a family that is partnered with NBC12 for a live stream on our website.

She instantly became a star due to the live feed as her pregnancy, the eventual birth of her puppies and the early days of their lives were broadcast live through the webcam and on the NBC12 Facebook page.

Seven of Ginny's puppies lived and were named Willow, Mickey, Clover, Midlo, Forest, Hattie, and Chester by petcam sponsor Village Bank.

Ginny and all of her puppies were quickly adopted. She's moved on from our pet cam, but can now be followed on Instagram.

The contest's current leader is June, who was rescued by Richmond Animal Care and Control and needed treatment for heartworms and a hernia.

Donations can be made here. Judy Bradford has raised more than $4,200 on Ginny's behalf. Gracie's Guardians have raised more than $6,600 for June.

Ginny and June will be at the Calendar Contest Party on Aug. 18 at from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Richmond Animal League.
