NEW KENT, VA (WWBT) - The New Kent County Sheriff's Office said Monday afternoon it received a scam phone call from someone saying that Medicare would help relieve chronic pain.

"Once again the scammers are at work," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post. "... The only associated pain is the stupid calls we all have to tolerate."

The sheriff's office urges residents to "hang up" and "don't even speak with these people. Don't follow any of their instructions."

The sheriff's office says the call they received displayed a call back number of 555-555-5555.

"Of course they didn't want to talk to the Sheriff so they immediately disconnected," the post said.
