HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - NASCAR action is back at Richmond International Raceway. It's sure to be a historic weekend at RIR as Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues his farewell tour.

It will be bittersweet for racing fans, getting to watch the 42-year-old race in Central Virginia. This is his first race since announcing his retirement, meaning Dale Jr.'s farewell tour starts this weekend in Richmond.

After missing the final 18 races last year with a concussion, he wants to finish his career on his own terms.

Fans can partake in this historic weekend. The track takeover is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, allowing fans to get right on the track before their favorite drivers start their engines.

Fans can still buy tickets online, including Friday's qualifier. Click here to buy tickets and for more information on the races.

This weekend is going to be hot with temperatures in the 90s. Fans are allowed to bring in one soft-sided cooler with ice, but it is highly recommended to bring a lot of water and sunscreen.

The parking lot opens to fans at 7 a.m. on Friday.
