RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A driver, who Richmond police say was speeding from officers in a stolen car, flipped several times and had to be rescued early Wednesday morning.

This started on Walmsley Boulevard in Richmond's Southside when officers were called to a report of a stolen car.

While officers were on their way to the scene, police saw a car matching the description of the stolen car. Officers tried to flag down the driver, but he took off, instead of listening to police.

Minutes later, the car rolled several times, and the driver needed Richmond paramedics to save him.

He is now in police custody, and officials say the driver only had a few bumps and bruises.
