HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Henrico Fire crews responded to River Road on Wednesday to find heavy smoke coming from a home.
Firefighters entered the home to search for occupants and put out the blaze. During the search, they found a dog barely breathing. The dog was brought outside where firefighters gave him rescue breathing, oxygen, and an IV.
The dog, Webster, was transported to a local vet.
Henrico Fire says the fire was under control in less than an hour. Two people are displaced and will stay with relatives.
The cause of the fire is accidental, "either electrical or mechanical involving the gas line in the kitchen," said Henrico Fire.
