VARINA, VA (WWBT) - Neighbors are offering their prayers after a man was found dead inside a home in eastern Henrico on Wednesday morning.

Police say right now there is a death investigation after a man was found in the 2600 block of Kingsland Pointe Drive off of Varina Road.

Emergency crews lit up the street around 2 a.m. Wednesday. An injured person was seen being taken away in an ambulance. A man was found dead inside the home.

"It's horrible," said Greg Hughes, a neighbor.

Hughes lives near the home and says a husband and wife live there. He says the scene was gut wrenching.

"I saw her slowly walking the driveway and then probably about half way through, she just started crashing down to the ground," he said. "I don't know if
it was a family member or a friend who had to console her."

He says the couple is family oriented.

"They were very compassionate people towards their family, even their neighborhood," said Hughes. "They were never disrespectful to their neighbors."

According to Henrico's online crime incident report, the call came in as a shooting. When NBC12 asked police about this, a spokesperson would only say it was "a suspicious situation."

Police have not said who was involved, but say they are not looking for any suspects.

Henrico Police say this is an ongoing investigation.

If you know anything that could help officers, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
