Henrico, Chesterfield offer Christmas tree recycling services

(WWBT) - Both Henrico and Chesterfield counties are accepting your Christmas trees for recycling.

Henrico's Department of Public Utilities will take your trees to recycle into mulch, and you do not have to pay a dime.

Here is a list of the four drop-off locations:

  • Henrico Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Road, in the lower parking lot;
  • Eastern Government Center, 3820 Nine Mile Road, in the front parking lot;
  • Springfield Road Public Use Area, 10600 Fords Country Lane, near Nuckols Road and Interstate 295; and
  • Charles City Road Public Use Area, 2075 Charles City Road.

Make sure you remove all of the tinsel, lights, and ornaments before you drop off the tree.

You have until Jan. 8 to recycle your Christmas tree.

Chesterfield also has two drop-off points:

  • Northern Area Convenience Center, 3200 Warbro Road
  • Southern Area Convenience Center, 6700 Landfill Road

The service is free in Chesterfield until Jan. 31.
