RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Construction is officially underway on a 20-story tower in downtown Richmond that will house retail space and more than 1,000 Dominion employees.
Dominion hosted a ground-breaking ceremony Monday for the new building at 111 S. 6th Street.
The tower, which will be 417 feet tall with 960,000 square feet of space, is expected to be completed in early 2019. It will be located at the former Richmond Plaza building.
Dominion said earlier this year that the tower will be Richmond's second-tallest building.
The design and building team is led by Richmond-based Hourigan Construction and its joint venture partner Clayco, which is based in Chicago.
