1 injured in VA small plane crash

ISLE OF WIGHT, VA (WWBT) - One person was injured in a small plane crash in Isle of Wight County.
The crash happened off the runway in a field near Franklin Municipal-John Beverly Rose Airport Saturday afternoon.
WAVY reports the aircraft "took off from the airport, experienced engine troubles," and tried to head back to the airport but crashed 100 yards into the woods. The aircraft was leaking fuel.
Two people were on board, and the person injured was taken to Southampton Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Virginia State Police are investigating.
