Vandals target Christopher Columbus statue on Thanksgiving

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police detectives are searching for a suspect who vandalized the Christopher Columbus statue in Byrd Park on Thanksgiving.

Police say someone splattered red paint on the statue sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.

A passerby spotted the vandalism while walking a dog.

Detectives ask that anyone who saw a suspicious person in Byrd Park on Thursday morning to call (804) 646-1940.
