CAROLINE, VA (WWBT) - One person is fighting for his life Tuesday morning after an accident on Interstate 95 N in Caroline, according to state police.

The accident happened at mile marker 104 near Carmel Church in Ruther Glen just before 1:15 a.m. The crash involved a box truck and a Ford F-150.

Officers say the driver of the box truck trapped inside, but he was eventually med-flighted to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the Ford was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Crews say the box truck was full of furniture, and they are currently working to empty the truck so they can pull it out of the embankment.

The crash closed two lanes on the northbound side. The center lane has since reopened, but the left lane and left shoulder are still closed.

The accident also caused the left and center lanes to close at mile marker 98 near Kings Dominion. The lanes reopened just after 8:50 a.m.

Police are working to determine what caused the crash.
