HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Wednesday afternoon's powerful thunderstorms that hit right as the evening commute got underway left their mark on the region, causing damage to homes and businesses, including a Henrico home.
Just before 4 p.m., Henrico Fire officials responded to a home in the 2600 block of Caitlin Court in the county's West End.
A neighbor told NBC12 that she heard thunder and saw lightning simultaneously and she knew it hit something close by. That strike she witnessed struck the chimney of her neighbor's home.
"He said he was standing in the driveway when it happened and he shook all over," neighbor Ann Bush said. "I said, 'Did you get struck,' and he said, 'I don't think so.' I said, 'Go in the house and stay there.'"
The homeowner said he was not injured, but very shaken up about what happened.
