HOLLYWOOD, FL (WWBT) - An expectant mom in Florida is moving out of state to the Commonwealth because of concerns over Zika.

Gigi Mains planned to drive to Virginia, where she will stay with her family until her child is born. She says the move makes perfect sense, given what is at stake.

"He is our life, and he comes first and same with this baby," she said about her kids. "I want to give that baby a chance he had, you know, to be healthy and have a good life."

"If we have to move away and separate for six months, that's pennies in the long run," said Jarrod, Gigi's husband.

Jarrod will stay at home in Florida, waiting for his wife to return after she gives birth.

No Zika cases have originated in the county where they live, but local transmissions have been confirmed in two areas in the nearby Miami-Dade County.

The Center of Disease Control (CDC) is advising pregnant women not to travel to those areas.
