Man arrested after items consistent with meth production found in Chesterfield home

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield Police, Fire and state authorities descended on a neighborhood Sunday afternoon after a search warrant execution uncovered items consistent with methamphetamine production.

According to Chesterfield Police, officers were executing a search warrant at a home in the 2800 block of Gainford Circle, just off Strathcona Street near Strathmore Road, around 4 p.m. when officers discovered the items, which can be hazardous.

Police arrested and charged Robert W. Stewart, 48, with manufacture, sale, possession of a controlled substance.

Chesterfield Police, Chesterfield Fire Department HAZMAT crews and Virginia State Police arrived within minutes to examine and remove the items from the home.

Authorities said that none of the other homes in the area were in danger.
