RVA TechJam brings local innovators together
Richmond's innovators got together today for the RVA TechJam.
It's a conference in multiple locations in downtown Richmond, featuring the latest in technology, local tech start-up businesses, and opportunities for entrepreneurs to pitch their tech inventions to investors.
The day began with entrepreneurs making talking up their ideas to potential investors while taking free Uber rides around town.
A documentary called, "Code: Debugging the Gender Gap" was shown at the Carpenter Theatre, addressing the shortage of female and minority software engineers.
Our own Heather Sullivan moderated a panel discussion about the issue, featuring the film's director, Robin Hauser Reynolds, and Sonali Shetty, CEO and Managing Director of Kova Digital, Kim Mahan, CEO of MAXX Potential, and Mike Wisler, MVP of Card Technology at Capital One.
RVA TechJam is sponsored by Capital One, Uber, and General Electric, among others.
It wraps up tonight with a "Techxpo" and the Battle of the Geek Bands in Market Square downtown.
