Richmond Police searching for gun-brandishing convenience store robber

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police are searching for the man they say brandished a firearm while robbing an East End convenience store Tuesday evening.

According to officers, the incident happened at The Sam Market in the 1800 block of North 30th Street.

An employee inside the business reported that a black male entered the store, grabbed a can of beer from the refrigerator case, before displaying a silver handgun and demanding money from the store's register.

After making off with an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the store just before 10 p.m. and was last seen running toward Nine Mile Road.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, standing approximately 5'8" tall and weighing around 150 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he wore a white t-shirt, khaki trousers, and sneakers at the time of the incident. He has a goatee and braided hair.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call Richmond-Henrico Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
