RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police are actively looking for the man who swiped a purse from a vehicle in Church Hill in late April.

Detectives have identified 32-year-old William Bell as a suspect in the April 24 incident, when police were called to the 100 block of North 29th Street for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle.

Moments later, witnesses about a block away near East Grace Street alerted officers to a man seen walking a dog and carrying a purse, who was later identified as Bell.

Those witnesses reported seeing him ditch the purse and run toward East Broad Street. Police did recover the purse but the wallet and credit cards inside were gone.

Bell is wanted on charges of grand larceny and credit card theft.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Richmond-Henrico Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
