Portsmouth siblings to split Va. Lottery's 'Cash4Life' top prize

PORTSMOUTH, VA (WWBT) - "I was happy. Then I went back to sleep. I had to go to work the next morning."

Those were the calm words of J.B. Sim of Portsmouth as he recounted when his brother showed him their winning Cash4Life ticket from the May 23 drawing.

Virginia Lottery officials said Sim matched the winning numbers in the drawing, which were 4-19-26-33-58, and the Cash Ball number was 2.

Sim bought the ticket from Quest gas station in the 1200 block of George Washington Highway in Chesapeake. On May 27, Sim returned to the store to receive the check on his family members' behalf.

Their prize choice was either taking $1,000 per day for life or a one-time cash option of $7 million before taxes.

Lottery officials said the prize is being split between Sim and his sister, Jaehee Yoshimoto of Kapolei, Hawaii, and sister-in-law, Nomee Sim of Bellevue, Washington.

Sim said it was his sister's idea to begin playing the game. "She was the brains behind it," he casually remarked.

The Quest gas station that sold the winning ticket will also receive a $50,000 bonus from the lottery.
