West Virginia man killed after being hit by train in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (WWBT) - A man died after being hit by a train in Williamsburg early Friday. The death is being ruled as an accident.

The Williamsburg Fire Department says a CSX train hit the 25-year-old on the tracks in the 700 block of Lafayette Street around 3:10 a.m., according to WAVY.

The man's body was found near the tracks.

"All witness accounts of this incident indicate the deceased was struck by the train as he was crossing the tracks to get back to his hotel," Williamsburg Police said in a news release.

Police said the man was a contractor from West Virginia. His ID has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
