RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police are investigating an aggravated assault after a man was shot Saturday morning.

Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the shooting near the 17th Street Farmers Market around 2:10 a.m.

"Hundreds of people were leaving clubs in Shockoe Bottom when a fight broke out near the Farmers Market and shots were fired," said Detective Sergeant Richard Edwards with the Major Crimes Unit.

The shot hit a random bystander who was not involved in the fight. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but police say he has been stabilized.

"We're asking anyone who saw or heard anything or may have captured this incident on video to contact us as their information could help us solve this case," said Edwards.

If you have any information for police, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
