HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A police officer in Henrico was nearly run over after following up on a drug store robbery in the county's East End.

The robbery happened around 2 a.m. at the Walgreens in the 4800 block of South Laburnum Avenue.

After following up on the robbery, a vehicle approached one of the officers at a high rate of speed at Williamsburg and Lewis roads. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle. The incident happened around 2:30 a.m.

Richmond Police then pursued the vehicle that matched the description, but they were also unable to stop the vehicle.

It all started when three men entered the store, which is open 24 hours a day, with weapons and made off with some cash.

Police say the officer who was almost run over is doing fine now.
