6-year-old plans marathon to raise money for Trooper Dermyer's family

GLOUCESTER, VA (WWBT) - Six-year-old Braxton Lee of Gloucester is on a mission to run the equivalent of a marathon to raise money for the family of slain Virginia State Police Trooper Chad Dermyer.

In a recent Facebook post, Lee's family posted a handwritten letter asking the public to help raise money.

"I know a bad man killed a police officer," Lee wrote. "I want to raise money for his family. I will run a marathon for his family."

Dermyer, 37, was killed March 31 when a James Brown III opened fire in a Greyhound bus station on North Boulevard in Richmond.

Dermyer and other state troopers were performing a training exercise when Brown fired several shots that also injured two other people.
