Suspect hijacks bus in D.C.; pedestrian killed

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWBT) - A man attacked a Metrobus driver with a weapon and hijacked a bus on Tuesday, Washington, D.C. police said, and then killed a pedestrian.

Police say the suspect got on the bus in the 3800 block of Jay Street NE about 10:30 a.m. When the bus arrived at its next stop, the suspect attacked the driver with a weapon, NBC Washington reports. The driver got off the bus, but suffered a back injury.

The suspect then drove the bus to a gas station on Minnesota Avenue NE, went over the curb and struck a pedestrian in the parking lot of the gas station. The male pedestrian died at the hospital.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was quickly arrested.
