RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - In Henrico, travelers at the Amtrak station off Staples Mill Road faced delays stemming from the deadly crash up north.
Several people said they might not get on a train until Monday, leaving many having to find alternate means of transportation. Some students were worried about missing school, but one mother said it's a small price to pay since she's just happy her daughter is safe.
"I'm thankful that she wasn't on the train, and I'm sorry for those who were," mother Cheryl Davis said.
"They said we could book one tomorrow, which would be at the same time, or we could just get a refund, or we could just wait here," said travelers Loren Caldwell and Anysia Thomas. "Still, it's a problem because we still have school tomorrow."
We reached out to the Amtrak spokesperson at the Staples Mill station, but we haven't heard back.
