Online transaction turns into parking lot robbery in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A robbery in broad daylight began as an online transaction, and ended with strangers jumping into action to help officers catch the suspects.

According to Chesterfield police, the robbery took place in the parking lot of the Food Lion located at 5702 Jefferson Davis Highway.

Around 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon, strangers met to finalize an online transaction in person. At that time, according to officers, a weapon was pulled out.

No one was injured, but the suspects ran from the scene.

This is where the community immediately jumped in to help, serving as "an integral part" to catching the criminals. Witnesses watched the suspects and were able to give critical information to officers, leading to the capture and arrest of two individuals.

At this time, those two individuals are simply identified as an adult male and a juvenile male. Charges are pending.
