CHESTER, VA (WWBT) - A woman mistakenly found herself trapped on railroad tracks, and escaped her car moments before it was hit by a train Tuesday night.

Chesterfield Police said the driver went to cross tracks and was confused by the turn on Curtis Road. She then turned onto the tracks, and then the guardrails came down and closed her in.

The woman was able to get out of her car just before an Amtrak train struck it. Investigators said that woman wasn't seriously hurt and there were no injuries on the train.

When the train hit the car, it was thrown into the woods, and crews were able to pull the car out.

Part of Curtis Road from the tracks to Richmond Street was closed.

The Amtrak train was held up for about an hour.
