Victim pistol-whipped in attempted robbery in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield Police are looking for a man who tried to rob a person in a parking lot and hit the victim in the face with a gun.

The crime happened around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 5600 block of Handel Court. Police say the victim was walking to his girlfriend's apartment from his car when the suspect approached with a gun and tried to rob the victim.

The victim used his key fob to set off his car alarm. Police say the suspect and victim then struggled, and the suspect hit the victim in the face with the butt of the gun. The suspect then ran away.

Police are looking for a "black male, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black beanie."
