Family of 7-year-old girl shot in South Richmond triple shooting opens up about the crime

. - Richmond Police confirmed they were able to apprehend suspect Anwar Phillips, who also goes by the nickname WAWA, after he was shot early Friday morning at a Henrico apartment. Now, relatives of the victims are opening up.

Anwar Phillips had been on the run for days after police named him a suspect in the death of one man and the shooting of two others. He may have still been on the run had Phillips not found himself a victim of a shooting that now finds him fighting for his own life.

"To find your niece has been shot, your uncle murdered, your brother shot, I wouldn't wish this on anyone, anyone," said Yrishia Dorsey.

Yrishia is just coming back from the funeral home making plans to lay her beloved uncle to rest. 49-year-old Frank Mcray, also known as Skip, was shot at the Blue Ridge Estates Apartments in South Richmond Monday.

"It's unreal. It's a nightmare. This has been a nightmare for me and my family and every morning I wake up, I just wish it was a bad dream,"
Dorsey said.

Her brother and his seven-year-old daughter were also shot but survived. Both are recovering at the hospital.

"They just took the tube out of her throat so she hasn't been talking at all," Dorsey said.

She is speaking out on the same day police announced they now know where the suspect is. Sources say someone shot Anwar Phillips just before 7:00 Friday morning at the Essex Village Apartments in East Henrico. Authorities say a person of interest is in custody.

Police confirm Phillips was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Dorsey is sick and tired of the violence.

"It has to stop. When you pull the trigger, there's no coming back from that," she said.

It's a sentiment that's all too real as she comes to terms with the fact her dear uncle's life was cut short.

"He would help you. He would take the shirt off his back…Anytime any of us called on him, he was there," she said.

Authorities say the suspect is a known gang member who violated probation when he allegedly shot those three victims. McCray will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
