RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond man was on drugs when he smashed his car into a Chinese restaurant in Chesterfield overnight, according to police.

Christopher Harvey, 36, crashed into the new Panda Express on Midlothian Turnpike near Chippenham Parkway around 3:40 a.m. on Friday, according to police. Officers surrounded the restaurant, blocking off the parking lot with crime scene tape after the car rammed into a pillar and then through the windows of the Panda Express, sending glass everywhere.

This Panda Express is a relatively new building, opening within the last year.

Harvey was taken to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was issued summonses for driving while suspended and driving under the influence of drugs.
