Hunters find LA woman's body near Tappahannock

TAPPAHANNOCK, VA (WWBT) - Virginia State Police are asking for the public's help after hunters found a Louisiana woman's body in a creek near Tappahannock.

The Medical Examiner has identified the woman as Patrice J. Bell, 24, and say there is no evidence of foul play in her death.

The hunters found her body on Saturday and contacted the Essex County Sheriff's Office. State Police divers were able to pull her remains from Mount Landing Creek off Route 17.

According to State Police, Bell was from Monroe, Louisiana.

Bell was in the Tappahannock area and last seen at 2 a.m. on Sept. 11. Police are trying to find out where she was the day prior and ask the public to call 804-553-3445 or email

The death remains under investigation by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Richmond Field Office.
