RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond2015 continues for another six days, which may be too soon for some businesses in our area and not soon enough for others.  For some, the UCI Road World Championship bike race brought in a lot of business, but not everyone is seeing a boost.

While many restaurants and shops are seeing a boost with the crowds in town, others say they are taking a hit.

When it comes to business, Ronald Holmes says normally, he does pretty well, but not so with the big bike race in town. People aren't coming in for haircuts. Holmes says business at his Shockoe Bottom barber shop is down 80 percent.

"I think I may have cut about 6 people on a Saturday," Holmes says. "I don't know. No one's barber shop that's that slow on a Saturday."

He's not the only one.  Many people are confused by the crowds and road closures.  Quite a few assume there is going to be too much traffic so they're avoiding the area.

"It's going to be hard to get down here," Holmes says. "It's going to be inconvenient for a lot of people. Your car may get towed. A lot of streets blocked off."

However, not everyone is feeling the pinch. Down the road at Poe's Pub, the situation is quite different.

"We're here, and we're having fun with it. Sunday, we had a real decent day," Poe's Pub owner Mike Britt says. "We had a whole bunch of people standing out here with their cow bells cheering and screaming and yelling."

Even with the weekend success, Britt says he believes the best crowds are yet to come.

"I think this weekend is going to be great," Britt adds. "We're gonna have our own party going on here, as well as what's going on in the park. There is a lot to bring people to the neighborhood this weekend, and we're going to have food and beer outside."

As for Holmes, he says he's not giving up hope for that extra business boom.

"I hope that everybody comes down here and support us," Holmes says.
