RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Several vehicles went up in flames all across the area overnight, keeping crews busy for hours. Now police are investigating to find out what caused the fires.
Henrico fire and police shut down parts of Staples Mill Road around 1:30 a.m. after a line-painting truck caught fire near the Cross Ridge Shopping Center. Crews arrived to find the truck engulfed in flames, and called in an additional engine company to assist. Investigators say the fire was not suspicious in nature. The road is now all clear in the area.
Around the same time in Richmond's Southside, firefighters and police worked to get at least a couple of car fires under control.
Someone set a car on fire at a used car lot in the 4100 block of Jeff Davis Highway. Only one car was on fire, but it was burned to a crisp. Police say another car was on fire just a block away.
