Richmond man dies in I-64 head-on collision
NEW KENT, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond man died early Sunday morning in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in New Kent.
Virginia State Police said the crash happened at 2:45 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 64 East at mile marker 209
State Police said they received a report of a driver heading the wrong way on Interstate 64. Within minutes of sending a trooper to investigate, the 2004 Buick Park Avenue that had been traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes hit an eastbound 2015 Peterbilt tractor-trailer loaded with household goods.
The driver of the Buick, Michael S. McCall, 40, of Richmond, died at the scene, State Police said. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Wilbur O. Pack, 50, of Appomattox, who was wearing a seatbelt, according to state police, was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
