RPD begins death investigation on body pulled from river

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Fire Department confirmed a death investigation is now underway following the recovery of a body pulled from the James River Monday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to the Pony Pasture around 1:30 p.m. Monday for the report of body found floating in the river. Crews then pulled the body onto a small island.
The fire department then notified Richmond Police, and that agency has now taken over the investigation.
Fire crews had cleared the scene by about 3 p.m.
