Parking tickets net city millions in revenue

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Records show that the City of Richmond raked in more than $4.7 million in 2014, just from parking tickets. Last year parking enforcement wrote 134,602 tickets.

And you should really be careful where you park in Richmond right now because April was the month where the most tickets were written. Enforcement caught 13,762 violators, raking in half a million dollars for the city.

October was another big month to get caught double-parked. In 20154, the city issued 13,349 tickets.

And the fewest number of tickets were written in January, February and March because,  let's face it: who wants to stand out in the cold?

In all, the city was owed $5.3 million in parking violations for 2014, and by January 2015, Richmond had collected all but 10 percent of it.
