RPD: Woman who hit Cherokee Rd. hydrant may have had medical emergency

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police said a woman who ran off the road in a residential neighborhood and hit a fire hydrant may have been experiencing a medical emergency.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. Sunday in the 7600 block of Cherokee Road. The woman, not identified by police, apparently lost control of her car and ran off the road, striking a fire hydrant and rolling her car on its side.

Police said the woman received minor injuries in the crash. Water spewing from the hydrant the woman hit caused minor flooding along Cherokee Road.
