SUFFOLK, VA (WWBT) - A Suffolk woman arrested for distribution of heroin reportedly spent two months as an elementary school teacher while facing charges.
A grand jury indicted Elizabeth Ferguson in September on two counts of distribution of heroin stemming back to a December 2013 incident, according to online court records. She was arrested on Sept. 29, the records show, but WAVY.com reports she was hired as a first grade teacher at S.P. Morton Elementary in Franklin days later.
School officials tell WAVY Ferguson was hired pending a background check and that Ferguson resigned Monday.
