James River looks to continue playoff run

MIDLOTHIAN, VA (WWBT) - The James River football team's last playoff appearance was 2000, where they were promptly ousted by Varina in the first round. This year's version of the Rapids is determined to make that postseason experience last a bit longer.

Eighth-seeded James River upset top-seeded CD Hylton last Friday in the first round of the 6A South playoffs. The 13-8 victory marked the first in a postseason game for Rapids head coach Greg DeFrancesco, as his team now eyes continued success in the second round.

Awaiting James River in the second round is a familiar foe, Dominion District rival Cosby. The Rapids nipped the Titans, 13-6, back on October 10. James River enters this match-up having won six of its last seven games, with the only loss coming to undefeated Manchester.

The Rapids and Titans kick off at 7:00pm on Friday on Cosby's home field. Click on the above video to hear from the Rapids on hopefully taking the next step in the postseason.
