RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Vauxhall Island along the James River is on the market.

"Great opportunity for that Richmond lover that would love to own an unique piece of property," said Sperry Van Ness/Motley real estate advisor Patrice Carroll.

Vauxhall Island is 2.83 acres of land off the James River near the Mayo Bridge, currently with no access to it. Right now it's in the hands of Richmond advertising executive Jess Duboy and his daughter. He says they bought the land back in the 80s for about $50,000.

"They're looking to divest this particular piece of property," said Carroll.

So, where do you get some money back? Right now it's all in the billboard, which would bring in $36,000 in rental income, according to Carroll.

"They can use the rental income to offset any expenses while they're waiting to determine what they want to do with the island," said Carroll.

Motleys is reaching out to the city parks department and Audubon society, but the sale is open to anyone.

"Any interested party, group, or government entity is welcome," said Carroll. "And then we're going to go through those and present them to the seller."

It's being sold by sealed bid. Bids are due by December 11 at 3 p.m.
