BUCKINGHAM, VA (WWBT) - A fire at a Buckingham home killed a 4-year-old boy Thursday morning and left one of his siblings and both of his parents in the hospital.

The fire broke out around 12:45 a.m. at the house along Stage Coach Road with the parents and their nine kids inside. The ages of the children range from one year old to 16 years old. The 4-year-old was found dead in an upstairs bedroom, according to the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Chief. Family friend say his name is Trey.

"I can't imagine to lose everything that you have and then lose a child," says Becky Toney, a family friend of 15 years.

By the time firefighters reached the little boy, investigators say he was dead.

Now his parents are in the hospital, friends say with burns because they tried to run back into the home to save their son. We're told the father, who is the sole bread winner, is sedated. "He would work two jobs so that she was able to stay at home, they're good people," says Toney.

Toney says the community has rallied to get the family clothes, toys and a place to stay. Donation jars have popped up at near by businesses. But so much more will be needed, especially for medical bills and to bury the little boy. "They're good decent people," says Toney. "No one deserves this."

A fund has been set up to help the family, donations can be made at any Farmers Bank under The Wooten Family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but State Police believe it was accidental.
