River Road back open following head-on crash in Goochland

GOOCHLAND, VA (WWBT) - River Road is back open in Goochland after a closure Tuesday night due to a head-on collision.

The Virginia Department of Transportation reopened Route 6 around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday

A head-on collision around 5 p.m. Tuesday in Goochland shut down Route 6 west near Bulldog Way and River Road.

Police said a pickup truck and a car collided head-on. The investigation to determine how the crash happened and who is at fault is ongoing.

Two people in the pickup truck were rushed to the hospital by ambulance, police said. In addition, one person in the car was air lifted to the hospital. While all of the injuries are described as serious, authorities tell us said the victims are expected to be okay.

Travelers should expect delays while accident scene investigators continue to work.
