Henrico Police arrest fast food protesters sitting in Mechanicsville Turnpike

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Henrico Police arrested several protesters who shut down a portion of Mechanicsville Turnpike by sitting in the roadway.

Several fast food workers took to the streets in the 2300 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, vowing to do "whatever it takes" to raise wages to $15/hr and the right to form a union.

Police say they arrested 10 people around 2:30 p.m. for unlawful assembly and impeding the flow of traffic.

Police have charged the following people:

La'sheika M. Harris – 23 years old

Samuel L. Taylor – 23 years old

Jarode S. Woodson  -  27 years old

Tavon K. Taylor – 24 years old

Katrina T. Lewis – 32 years old

Nina S. Edwards – 24 years old

Rey A. Arteaga Jr. – 22 years old

Tierra L. Bradley – 18 years old

Rolanda R. Mcmillan – 52 years old

Tanisha Green  - 28 years old
