Investigation into Chesterfield Booms
CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - They were the explosions and loud booms that had all of you talking this weekend. NBC12 got complaints from all over Chesterfield County about explosions and booms.
Several, came from the Crimson Crest neighborhood. Neighbors there say they were so loud they heard them all day and all night and that they were coming from somewhere in the woods.
" Imagine having a plane break the sound barrier every ten minutes over your house—you hear the windows rattle and all that," said Willis Dickinson, who lives in he neighborhood and heard the booms. "Boom! Didn't like it."
"It was a little what in the world is going on and are we ok and do we need to be concerned about our children or animals?" added Amy Payne.
Police confirm there were exploding targets being used during the day Saturday. VAGunTrader.com hosted what the group called a "Tannerite BBQ". And we're told they did warn police.
Again, we've looked into this issue several times. Tannerite is not illegal, but a lot of these neighbors say it sure is a nuisance.
Meanwhile, there were also cannon noises from a Civil War reenactment, which may explain some explosions earlier in the morning.
